Bus Tours  |  11:30-12:30 pm
Campus bus tours will leave from the front of the Classic Center beginning at 11:30, leaving approximately every 15 minutes, stopping at the Arches for students who want to attend the Welcome Reception.

Welcome Reception  |  12:00-1:00 pm
The Graduate-Professional Student Association will host a welcome reception on Herty Field with refreshments and activities for all incoming graduate students.

UGA Libraries Graduate Student Open House

Monday, August 7, 2017
2:00-4:00 pm

Meet your librarians, learn about key resources, and tour the buildings. Representatives from various Libraries’ departments and collections will be available to answer questions and demonstrate research tools including the GIL catalog, GALILEO system of research databases, and the citation management tools EndNote and RefWorks.

There will be door prizes and light refreshments!

GTA and GLA Orientation

Miller Learning Center, (near the center of the UGA campus)

All new graduate teaching and laboratory assistants who will have instructional responsibilities during 2017-2018 academic year are required to attend the Orientation for Graduate Teaching and Laboratory Assistants. This includes laboratory and teaching assistants as well as others in graduate student classifications who will be serving as instructors.

Register for the TA Orientation at Sessions will focus on topics and strategies to help you prepare for the first weeks of classes, as well as important legal and managerial information for the classroom.

Makeup orientation will be held Saturday, August 19th. If you cannot attend orientation of August 8, register for this session to meet the requirement for your teaching or lab assistantship:

  • Graduate Student Night @ Creature Comforts in downtown Athens, 5:00-9:00 pm
    Free pizza and discounted drink tickets for UGA graduate and professional students, just show up anytime between 5 and 9 pm on Thursday, August 10! They will plan to have the pizza around 5:30 pm.
