UGA Libraries Offers Contactless Porch Pickup for Graduate Students, Faculty

The UGA Libraries’ reopening plan begins with contactless porch pickup services for graduate students and faculty beginning June 23.

Most library services and resources will remain available digitally through the summer, as a small group of library faculty and staff return to campus to begin preparations for safe on-campus operations during the upcoming academic year. However, due to requests, certain books may be checked out and retrieved by faculty and graduate students.

Kate Sabey wins P.E.O. Scholar Award

Kate Sabey, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine at UGA, is one of 100 doctoral students nationwide selected to receive a $15,000 Scholar Award from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was sponsored by Chapter M of Athens, GA.

Sabey is a graduate of Juniata College where she explored the role of gut microbiome in human gastrointestinal disease. After graduation, she completed an internship at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park before returning to Juniata College, where she served as an adjunct laboratory instructor and research associate.

Masters Student Sheridan Alford co-Founds #BlackBirdersWeek

Masters Student and Graduate Assistant at the Graduate School Sheridan Alford co-founded the bird-watching movement #BlackBirdersWeek after the viral video of a black man bird-watching in Central Park was threatened by a white woman. This movement highlights and showcases black birders. Read her interview with High Country News here.
