Degree Type: Certificate

Degree Program Code: CERT_2NML_ON

Degree Program Summary:

The Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership is designed for students earning graduate degrees in other fields at UGA but who have aspirations of working in the nonprofit sector. It also provides content relevant to those who are already employed in the nonprofit arena but who can benefit from advanced training in particular areas related to nonprofit management and leadership. The program is supported by a multidisciplinary faculty of scholars, practitioners and adjunct faculty who are nonprofit leaders in the Athens community.

The following students are eligible for the certificate program:

  • UGA graduate students enrolled in majors other than the Master of Arts in Nonprofit Management and Leadership;
  • Undergraduate honors students in their third or fourth year of study; or
  • Non-degree seeking students who have already earned an undergraduate degree but are not currently enrolled in a degree program at UGA. These students may apply to the Graduate School solely for CERT status.

Completion of the certificate requires 12 semester hours of eligible graduate level courses (four courses). Two courses are required: Theory and Management of Nonprofit Management and Leadership and Evaluation of Professional Practice. Two additional courses may be chosen from among a menu of ‘core’ courses such as fundraising, grant writing, volunteer management, innovation and change in Nonprofit Management and Leadership, consulting and social entrepreneurship.
