The Poultry Diagnostic and Research Center offers a three-year non-thesis Master of Avian Health and Medicine (MAHM) graduate degree. The program is designed to give students a solid grounding in those aspects of poultry husbandry and management which are most relevant to avian health as well as the ability to use poultry pathology, immunology, and microbiology as part of the systematic approach to disease or management-related problem investigations.

Degree Type: Masters

Degree Program Code: MAHM_AVHM_ON

Degree Program Summary:

This course is offered online to allow students to study while still continuing to work. Each individual subject runs for 16 weeks and focuses on topics relevant to the modern poultry veterinarian. Each subject has the basic structure of one preparatory week followed by fourteen weeks of lectures and discussions, much like a typical face-to-face university subject. The final exam will take place in weeks 16 and 17. Students will be expected to be able to set aside approximately 20-25 hours per week for reading, assignments, and participation in online activities.

A completed official application for a Master of Avian Health and Medicine degree from the Graduate School of The University of Georgia must be completed. Experience in the poultry industry is desirable; demonstrated interest in poultry medicine is required.

In addition to the requirements of the Graduate School of The University of Georgia, applicants are required to have a DVM or equivalent degree. Applicants should submit a biographical sketch describing their experiences, their interest in poultry medicine, and explaining their reasons for applying to the Master of Avian Health and Medicine program.
