The MEd in Middle Grades Education program is a leader in the field of middle school reform and is one of the oldest middle school-specific MEd programs in the nation.

Degree Program Summary:

The Middle Grades Education Program offers one M.Ed. degree program for individuals who already hold middle grades (4 through 8) certification. The program leads to eligibility for T5 (Masters level) certification in Georgia.

The 36 credit hour M.Ed. program consists of 12 courses taken in four areas: (a) foundations of education (1 course); (b) characteristics, programs, and problems of the middle school (5 courses); (c) middle school subject matter (5 courses); and (d) research (1 course). A maximum of 6 semester hours may, with the permission of the advisor, be transferred from another accredited institution. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum 2.75 undergraduate GPA, a GRE score of at least 850, with a minimum score of 400 on each of the verbal and quantitative subtests, or an MAT score of at least 402. Application deadlines for U.S. applicants wanting to begin in the Summer or Fall Semesters is March 1 and the deadline for beginning in the Spring semester is October 1. If there is space available, faculty may consider late applications.
