Degree Program Summary:

The PhD degree program in Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences emphasizes interdepartmental approaches to train students in translational research. Graduates of this program will learn to integrate foundational basic sciences with clinical research to translate the latest discoveries for their application from the bench to the field or to clinical improvements in animal and human health. The program is designed to expand and broaden the scope of biomedical training and research by including graduate faculty and resources of the college’s clinical departments with those in the basic sciences.

This is a multi-departmental PhD program administered through the Office of the Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Affairs. The program is available to all qualified students holding professional degrees in the healing arts as well as to graduate students with a strong biological background. Programs of study are available in the emphasis areas, which include, but are not limited to the following academic departments: Anatomy and Radiology, Population Health, Large Animal Medicine & Surgery, and Small Animal Medicine & Surgery.
