The UGA Graduate School and the McCoy-Hutchinson Mentoring Academy hosted the second annual Graduate Mentoring Summit on January 9, 2026. Faculty from across campus attended the event, which featured a panel discussion with UGA faculty and graduate students on effective mentoring practices.

A keynote presentation from Dr. Kimberly Griffin of the University of Maryland, a national expert in mentoring, was titled “Joy in Mentoring: Building Opportunities for Learning and Well-Being,” and focused on how supportive mentoring can promote positive outcomes for both students and faculty mentors.

The summit also provided an overview of the Graduate Mentoring Certificate, which launched in January 2025. This series provides faculty with programmatic and evidence-based strategies to enhance the mentorship of graduate students.
