Student Success & Well-Being Workshops. Peer-led programming brought to you by the Graduate School and various campus partners. Available to Graduate Programs and Student Organizations upon request.

The Office of Student Success & Well-being provides holistic support to graduate students at all stages and on all campuses, including online students. Our programming is offered both in-person and online and is taught by current graduate students as well as campus partners. Programs focus on an array of topics ranging from professional development to personal well-being to community building.

Peer Support Workshops
In collaboration with the UGA School of Social Work

Thursdays, 12:30-1:30 pm, Brooks Hall, room G9 (hybrid)

  • Jan 23- Cultivating a Social Life in Grad School – Learn about the importance of social connection and the many ways to create a meaningful social life on and off campus.
  • Feb 13 – Setting Boundaries – Join fellow graduate students to discuss how healthy boundaries can help you maximize your time in graduate school and beyond! Talk through the benefits of boundaries, different types of boundaries, and strategies for setting boundaries.
  • Mar 20 – Women in Academia: Collaboration & Community – In honor of Women’s History Month, learn about the opportunities and challenges women face in academia. Discuss with fellow graduate students how female colleagues can support one another throughout their academic journeys.
  • Apr 10 – Working Through Burnout – As finals season approaches, learn with other graduate students about the causes, symptoms, and consequences of burnout. Finish the semester strong by learning to combat burnout and refresh habits!

Finding Your Voice: Navigating Public Speaking  Anxiety
In collaboration with the UGA Department of Communication Studies

Join the Graduate School Peer Support Network (GPSN) and the Department of Communication Studies for an interactive workshop on understanding, reframing, and addressing common stressors and anxiety related to public speaking. In this session, we’ll share practical techniques and mindfulness strategies to help graduate students confidently navigate the public speaking process, from speech preparation to audience engagement.

Culinary Passport Series 
In collaboration with the University Health Center

The Culinary Passport Series is designed to teach graduate students how to cook healthy and affortdable meals representing a variety fo the the different culturnal backgrounds here at UGA.

Taught by the University Health Center’s Nutrition Kitchen, students have the opportunity to create this meal in a comfortable and casual environment. Each session can accommodate 12 students.

Beyond the Blank Page: Conquering Writer’s Block and Writing Anxiety
In collaboration with The Jill and Marvin Willis Center for Writing

Join the Graduate School Peer Support Network (GPSN) and The Jill and Marvin Willis Center for Writing for an interactive workshop on understanding and navigating writing anxiety and writer’s block. This workshop helps graduate students reflect on their current writing habits and reframe their perceptions of academic writing using practical tips and mindfulness strategies.

Workplace Harassment & Upstander Intervention 
In collaboration with the University Health Center, Fontaine Center

The Workplace Harassment and Upstander Intervention is an interactive presentation designed for graduate students preparing to enter or advance in professional environments. Participants will gain an understanding of what workplace harassment can look like and be given the skills to take action if they see or experience harassment.

Open Scenes: Navigating Alcohol in a Professional Setting
In collaboration with the University Health Center, Fontaine Center

Join The Fontaine Center for an interactive discussion on navigating alcohol in a professional setting. Through open-ended dialogue, this workshop will explore what it might look like to interact or not interact with alcohol at conferences, interviews, networking events, etc.

Graduate Student Well-Being Challenge
In collaboration with the Department of Recreational Sports

Start your 2025 with a focus on YOU! Come join this eight-week challenge (January 21 – March 23, 2025) where we will be exploring wellness and physical activity to create a happier YOU. The weekly topics include movement, nutrition, water, and sleep, and all participants will be provided with two FREE InBody Composition Tests to assess their progress. Ways to earn points include entrance to Ramsey or Pound Hall, weekly well-being challenges, and body fat percentage reduction.

Must be a Ramsey Center member to participate. Space is limited to 20 participants.
