The National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported STEM and STEM education disciplines who demonstrate the potential to be high achieving scientists and engineers. Selection of fellows is based on intellectual merit and broader impacts.

November 12, 2025 – Deadline date – Computer and Information Science and Engineering; Materials Research; Psychology; Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences; STEM Education and Learning
November 13, 2025 – Deadline date – Engineering
November 14, 2025 – Deadline date – Chemistry; Geosciences; Mathematical Sciences; Physics and Astronomy
*Due by 5pm submitting organization’s local time

The Graduate School offers several informational webinars and workshop series from late spring through fall to help students navigate the application process. Eligible students are contacted via email by the Graduate School and provided with registration links. NSF GRFP Information Session for Fall 2025 Applicants

Join the Graduate School Office of Awards, Fellowships, and Scholarships for an informational webinar for NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) applicants. We will provide an overview of the fellowship, tips on application components and essays, and a suggested timeline for successful completion.

UGA GRFP Applicant Incentive Award:
UGA graduate student GRFP applicants may be eligible for an award of up to $250 reimbursement for research or professional development-related expenses.
To be considered, students must:
- Participate in one of the above GRFP Boot Camps;
- submit a completed application to NSF GRFP by the deadline; AND
- submit a completed UGA GRFP Applicant Incentive Award form with dossier by the deadline.
Only a limited number will be offered. All above requirements will be verified. The grant must be used between November 2025 and June 2026.
