Degree Program Summary:
This 15-hour certificate includes one core course (3 hours) and four courses of electives (12 hours). In the core course, students will learn about the foundations of diversity, equity, and inclusion work across settings. Then, students will select four elective courses that teach about issues of race / ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, immigration, poverty, and other important contemporary sociocultural issues. As one of the main points of focus, students will develop a deeper understanding of systemic oppression in order to cultivate the awareness, knowledge, and skills necessary to make social change across a variety of settings.
